As we enter into 2019, during these next 12 days, the universe supports us in helping to manifest our desires, so be sure to get clear on what you'd like to change in those areas that didn't work for you, so you can have a prosperous, abundant, successful 2019!
OMG, I am loving all things Christmas right now! The lights, the cheesy movies, the cookies and the music!
This past weekend my husband and I went to the annual Holiday on Cape Symphony Concert and it had me grinning from ear to ear! It’s so fun that we’re creating these traditions together, as this was our second time attending.
It’s the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, and I noticed 2 things that gave me so much joy that I wanted to share with you.
I am fascinated by this miraculous superfood healing protocol!
All of a sudden, I started seeing lots of instagramers posting about their celery juice drinking rituals and I was like, “well, I guess it’s time to try it!”
My friend Rhia, who is a yoga teacher and health consultant here on Cape Cod first started telling me about her celery juice drinking, fruit forward lifestyle about 4 years ago. She’s been following the Medical Medium, Anthony William’s protocol for over 9 years now, and actually works for him too so she’s got the full scoop!
I didn’t realize the importance of this until recently.
One thing I’ve loved about living anywhere, whether it was L.A., Boston, or now the Cape, is being connected to the yoga community.
This community could be a number of different things for you - the gym, music/art classes, running club, walking/hiking club, different meetup groups, etc.
One of my first posts ever was about the amazing magical healing properties of lemons.
Hot water with lemon has been a part of my life for the past 8 years now, and I honestly don’t think I’ve missed more than 3 days without it.
It is a daily reset, a cleansing act that creates optimum digestion and gut health.
Part of my morning ritual entails waking up, tongue scraping, brushing my teeth, neti pot nasal rinse and then hot water with lemon before breakfast - until now.
My favorite cities that I had visited up until this past February were London and Barcelona, until I went to Lisbon.
Lisbon is the most beautiful, clean, friendly city I have experienced! The hills, the palm trees, the architecture, the cobble stone streets, electric railway systems, castles, old world culture, Fado music, bread, cheese, wine, gingha - oh my, the list could go on, are just some of the things I marveled at.
Happy Summer Solstice upon us! It's so nice to finally be seeing life again here on Cape Cod. As with the Vata (winter) to Kapha (spring) seasons of Ayurveda, where we naturally moved from heavy, heartier foods to lighter, more astringent foods to help us detox from the weight of winter, we now move from Kapha to Pitta (summer) season.
Smoothies are a great way to do that.
I can't believe what one month away in a different country can do for the soul! Talk about feeling recharged!
It's one thing to take a 2 or 3 week vacation, but it's another when you're setting up your new home in a different world for a full month! It takes awhile to de-program your natural ways of being, and soften into the sweet spot of feeling fully recharged.
I'm so grateful to have had that experience, and want to share with you the main reasons why.
If you don't know yet, we bought an old farmhouse in the Azores! To think about setting up our home from another country is kind of overwhelming, but Rome wasn't built over night, as the saying goes, so it's just one step at a time, right?
We're here getting our bearings for a month to see what we need, and where we can get it. I have a running list going of things that come up as we need it, and one of them is a first aid kit.
I'm so excited to report that my hair has actually been looking good this time around in the Azores!
In the past few visits, my hair looked like it did when I was at my worst in 8th grade! Ahh!! Talk about a frizz halo! It was so discouraging.
The winter here in the Azores is their rainy season, and so being here my hair is basically in a constant state of that 'misty shower air' that I am always so careful to cover up with a shower cap in!
So, you can guess my cringe factor knowing I don't have control over my hair here - until now!
It's not easy sticking to my self care rituals and routines when traveling.
But that's what vacation is about, right?
When I was super rigid in my vegan days, I didn't enjoy Paris, Barcelona and London the way I would now. Granted, those cities did cater to vegans, surprisingly, I just had to seek it out / do more planning.
I dieted for years.
I was always trying the latest and greatest diets throughout my college years - Atkins, South Beach, The Zone to name a few to try and keep my overindulgences in check.
I learned a lot with those diets, but it wasn't until I started to learn about eating clean and organic that things started to really shift.
Have you ever noticed breaking out with pimples after a cookie / sugar binge? Or worse, feeling constipated?
Take it to the next level, and have you noticed how much harder your workouts/yoga classes seem? And the weight gain. And the heaviness. Ugh.
It's the sugar, people. Our bodies don't like it, to say the least. But my mouth certainly does!
So, how to have your cake and eat it too in the New Year?
As a hairstylist, it's my job to keep my clients looking and feeling their best. When I see a client for the first time, often we have a lengthy consultation talking about the likes and dislikes of her hair.
That first appointment doesn't always lead to addressing all the things she desires. It's just a starting point. From there, the hair and our relationship evolves. I get to know what does and doesn't work, and how she feels about what she thinks she wants, etc.
I don't know about you, but when winter comes down on us, everything just feels so....stagnant. Stagnant air. Stagnant days. Stagnant lifestyle. You get the picture.
So, let's un-stagnant these winter woes, shall we?! Here are 5 things you can do each day to get out from under winter's heaviness.
I didn't even realize it, but for the last 6 months or so, I've been practicing simplifying my life even more than I could have possibly been before! I'm a big believer that routines and rituals support your wellbeing, because without self care there is no self love, and then we have nothing to give!
These practices are fool proof and simple, so there's no excuse not to take care of yourself!
