i am feeling so moved to write on this topic today after coming away from a sensational weekend filled with wonderful company, magical surroundings and a magnetism of sheer abundance, beauty, and deep connection.
i had the pleasure to partake in the wedding festivities of a dear couple in Newport, RI this weekend.
weddings have this affect on people - the reflection of how our souls connect by none other than divine synchronicity. i couldn't help but be completely overwhelmed with this thought.
yes, it's easy to think about it in regards to a union in marriage, but think about all the other chance encounters that encompass your day.
the friends that i was surrounded by this weekend are such a blessing to me in my life, and the way that we all met and have created a family circle is awe inspiring. it is the gift of life itself.
the people we share our journey with, is all that is important in life.
its easy to recognize the significance of the obvious loved ones, but i was acutely aware of the random encounters i experienced in my travels the last couple days- the innkeepers at my b&b for example, the salesperson at the jewelry store, the staff at the restaurants, the guests at the wedding who have come into the lives of the happy couple in varied ways to impact the outcome of the couple sharing their vows...it's endless.
i read a quote in my yoga teacher's weekly newsletter from a spiritual master that says:
Understand that man has, within himself, the manifested God. We call it the soul. The sole purpose of life is to activate the dormant soul. When a ray of light mixes with real light, the whole world becomes light. A drop merged with the ocean becomes the oceans
think about this revelation for a moment - our ONLY purpose in life is to connect with other souls - to light each other up and uplift with our words. by doing this, we have the capacity to ultimately achieve world peace...WHAT? is that not mind-blowing? i encourage you to just sit with that for a moment...
with the consciousness in realizing how special each moment is, remember that our paths are preciously chartered for us - it is what we do with the opportunities before us that give us the spice of life - the deep meaningful, fulfilling surge of love, which in turn, sheds light all around us to illuminate and light the spark within us that is ever present.
be grateful today and everyday for all the wonderful people who have come into your life - whether they're known or unknown, seen or unseen, they were perfectly placed in your path for a reason.
it may be to guide and protect you, or to challenge you, but regardless, it's all a blessing because it is the gift of life - the connections we make and the people we keep in our hearts.
