Soothe your dry scalp

I went to the dermatologist for my annual check up and got some great advice on what to do with my dry, itchy, flaky scalp.

As a curly girl, we tend to only wash our hair every 2/3 days or longer (hello 7 days!). Because of this, our scalps can get dry, itchy or flaky, due to lack of stimulation/exfoliation.

For us curly girls, the natural oils from our scalp actually help our hair look better because it keeps the hair moisturized.

But that oil build up at the scalp creates over active sebaceous glands to produce more oil, which smothers the hair follicles and turns into dried up oil that flakes and irritates.

Ahhh!

The struggle.

To wash the hair more, and have to go through all the styling, or fight the battle?

Last year, she recommended I use T-Sal shampoo.

But, I've since had a smoothing treatment done on my hair that recommends only sulfate free shampoo, so that won't work.

This time she recommended Scalpicin.

Both contain the active ingredient salicylic acid, to eat away at the accumulated oil and soothe the scalp.

The scalpicin is just a direct, topical application that can be squirted right on the scalp partings throughout the day and it really does offer some relief! You can find it at CVS, or grocery stores.

Try it out and see what you think.
