The Simplest Daily Ritual for Optimal Health

One of my first posts ever was about the amazing magical healing properties of lemons.

Hot water with lemon has been a part of my life for the past 8 years now, and I honestly don’t think I’ve missed more than 3 days without it.

It is a daily reset, a cleansing act that creates optimum digestion and gut health.

Part of my morning ritual (read the importance of rituals here) entails waking up, tongue scraping, brushing my teeth, neti pot nasal rinse and then hot water with lemon before breakfast - until now.

After reading so many health benefits of drinking hot water alone, by my spiritual teacher, Dr. Levry, I now drink it sans the lemon.


Because hot water alone is known as the “Hand of God”. Hot water goes where it needs to go in the body and works with the body to heal what needs to be healed.

Drinking it on an empty stomach first thing upon waking has powerful benefits. Ayurveda also teaches us that sipping on hot water throughout the day is wonderful for the lymphatic system and hydration in the body.

Drinking it after a yoga class is also an ideal time to do it, as you’ve created a clean slate for your body after breathing and moving through asanas.
